This ancient region is among the most prominent
centers of former civilizations. It provides
thrilling experiences for the touring visitor at
every turn. Just across the street from the
NazHan Hotel is the Basilica of St. John. It is
said that at this location the Apostle John
wrote the New Testament Book of the Bible, the
Gospel of John during his two visits to the
area, first in AD 37 and the second in AD 48
when he returned with Mary, Mother of Jesus.
During the 6th century AD the Emperor Justinian
built the church that now stands in ruin after
the centuries.
Ephesus, the House of the Mother Mary, St.
Johns Basilica, Isa Bey Mosque, The Grotto of
the Seven Sleepers, the Byzantine Aqueduct, the
Selcuk Museum and the ancient town of Sirince
are all close at hand and not to be missed when
visiting Selcuk. |
